Looking Glass Web-Design Services Explained
Web-Design and Development
Many small business customers require a website that looks inviting, with graphics, a form for enquiries and sometimes an online shopping cart. I build the website from scratch (without the use of inflexible templates) using html and CSS code, and some Flash applications. (See Links page for examples).
Sometimes complex functions such as databases and calculations may be required, which demands programming in another language such as Javascript, MySQL, or PHP for example. In these cases I have a very experienced web-developer associate I can call upon to work with as required.
Logo Design and Graphics

Every website I build is different. I don't use templates, but create a theme with graphics that is specifically suited to your requirements.

Writing and Editing Content

I am an experienced copy-writer and can write structured content ensuring that key features, benefits, and messages are clearly conveyed.

Sourcing and Altering Images
If required, I can source appropriate photos from stock photos that can be manipulated using Photoshop. I am also happy to take photos of your products.

Web Hosting

Hosting can be provided for your website (the rented internet space that your website occupies) and an unlimited amount of email addresses set up as you require.

Domain Name Selection

If you are unsure of the exact name to call your website, I can help you choose a name that is available, and one that is as search-friendly as possible.
Essential Search Engine Optimization and Web-Marketing
Building a website and launching it is one step to promoting your company, but without any dedicated time and focus to search engine optimization, it is likely people still won’t find you, as people rarely look beyond the first two pages in a search listing. To help your target audience discover your website, there are methods that can be used in the design, copy and coding of your site that can dramatically increase its chances of appearing in the first couple of pages of search engines like Google. I have had considerable success in this area with my sites appearing on the first two pages of Google for appropriate keywords. I also use strategic linking and free advertising, as well as Pay-Per-Click advertising to help boost the search listings.
Online Shopping Carts and Sales Management Systems

Selling your products or services online has a number of advantages over conventional methods of selling:

  • No need to pay sales assistants, or answer a lot of pre-sales queries.
  • Reducing order-processing costs - customer orders can automatically come straight into your orders database from the website and payment is received very quickly.
  • Ability to reach a global audience, thereby increasing sales opportunities.
  • Compete with larger businesses by being able to open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
  • Attract customers who would not normally have discovered your type of outlet.
  • Keep a record of existing customers and update them about new offers and products.
  • Deal with sales queries online, via a form, in your own time.

I can install a secure shopping cart onto your website that will accept a range of card and Paypal payments. Depending on your requirements, this online shop may vary from a simple checkout system that satisfies even the smallest budget up to a fully customized sales management system with stock control and detailed customer database, and one which can enable discounts, promotions, marketing emails, product follow-ups, variable postage, printed invoices, sales reports, regional settings, up-selling, cross-selling, and even instant translations of the shopping cart to many different languages.

Web-site Maintenance

Once I have built and launched your site I will be very happy to maintain your site with any updates and changes you require. This is charged at an hourly rate.

On request, or on a regular basis, I can provide you with a report about your site – comprising an analysis and statistics of (for example):  where, how often, and which parts of your site are being viewed. This is a very useful tool for gauging the success of your site and planning any advertising.
